Homeowner shoots at masked intruders!

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

A Seattle homeowner shot at three masked men last week after they attempted to kick his door in, claiming to be police.

Auburn Police received a call of a “no-injury” shooting around 2 a.m. that morning.

According to Kiro7, the homeowner’s Ring doorbell recorded the whole event. The men had shown up at the door with black ski masks over their faces. All three were armed with pistols.

Masked Menaces

“Seattle Police!” one of the men said before the three began attempting to kick the door down.

Local News Outlet King5 said that the door was deadbolted, which “really allowed the homeowners time to react,” said Kolby Crossley, a spokesperson for the police.

The homeowner had a gun and opened fire on the three masked intruders. Reports indicate that the homeowner fired multiple shots.

The intruders did not stick around the property after the homeowner began shooting at them. There is no knowledge of whether the intruders were injured.

Police Searching for Masked Suspects

Police investigators are trying to identify the masked suspects. Several local news sources, including the Auburn Examiner, have a police phone number listed for people to call with tips.

According to Komo News, the police department finds it concerning that intruders are posing as officers.

“They try to give you that false sense of security before they try and get into your home,” said Crossley. “But in this sense, they started kicking almost simultaneously.”

“In that situation just try to put it together that this is not the police that are trying to kick in your door,” Crossley added.

Neighbors A Bit Nervous

The police weren’t the only people concerned. Several neighbors woke up to gunshots that Thursday.

“You assume you’re safe,” said one neighbor in the Komo News article. “You assume it wouldn’t happen to you and even though it didn’t happen directly to me, it’s close enough where we saw the impact in our living room.”

“Even though it didn’t happen directly to me,” said another neighbor, “it’s close enough where we saw the impact in our living room.” Another neighbor said he heard over 20 gunshots.

The police are treating the case as self-defense, and the homeowner is not currently being charged.

“We obviously don’t encourage people to start shooting at people,” Crossley told Inside Edition. “But we understand that there is a right and a need to protect your property when called for.”
