A West Philadelphia homeowner shot and killed a brick-throwing, mask-wearing suspect this week, local media reports.
The 49-year-old victim heard some noise coming from his backyard around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
When he went out to see what was going on, he was confronted by the 23-year-old perp who had thrown a brick through the window of the homeowner’s SUV.
An altercation ensued, and the older gentleman shot the suspect.

“We believe the homeowner fired at least three shots from a semi-automatic weapon. We found three spent shell casings in the backyard area,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told ABC 6.
The would-be burglar fled the scene on foot but did not get far. He collapsed about a half-block away from the scene, say police.
Cheif Small said the department received similar calls in the area about a masked trespasser that night, including one where the suspect broke into a vehicle.
“We believe these calls are related to the shooting,” Small said.
Authorities also indicated that the deceased was no stranger to police and that he had multiple run-ins with the law.
The homeowner, meanwhile, is a licensed concealed carrier. He is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
