GOA Mobilizes Over 6,000 Veterans, Urges Congressional Action on Biden Pistol Brace Ban

Washington, D.C. – Gun Owners of America (GOA), a prominent grassroots lobbying organization, sent a coalition letter to Congressional leaders today. Urging action against the Biden Pistol Brace Ban, the letter bore the signatures of 6,721 servicemen and veterans. The pistol brace, initially designed to aid disabled veterans in shooting firearms independently, is at the center of this contention.

Adding to this call, the National Defense Committee, a veterans’ service organization, also led a similar campaign. A letter addressing Congressional leadership, backed by over a dozen different veteran service organizations, highlighted the same cause.

Notable figures like Majority Leader Scalise and Representative Andrew Clyde have joined GOA’s efforts. They announced a vote on H.J. Res. 44 in the House of Representatives, scheduled for next week.

Erich Pratt, Senior Vice President of GOA, expressed enthusiastic support for this initiative. “ATF has far exceeded their authority with this rulemaking,” Pratt said. He stressed the need for Congress to address this issue, or risk the continued weaponization of the National Firearms Act against Second Amendment supporters.

Dick Anthony Heller, U.S. Army, Airborne, E-4, and lead plaintiff in the landmark D.C. v. Heller case, shared similar sentiments. Heller underscored the implications of ATF’s reversal on pistol braces. “This rogue agency is criminalizing millions of Americans in the process,” Heller warned. He urged immediate Congressional action to protect pistol brace owners.

Joining the chorus, Bob Carey, CAPT, USN (Ret), and Executive Director of the National Defense Committee, acknowledged the efforts of Representatives Clyde and Hudson. “189 Members of the House are holding the ATF accountable for their unconstitutional actions,” Carey said. He pledged the support of veteran organizations to pass H.J. Res. 44.
