Have a spare $4,000? If you do, you could be the proud owner of Winston Churchill’s .32ACP 1913 Webley & Scott self-loading pistol, which will be going up for auction on Dec. 2, according to PDNet.com

Certified with two letters of authenticity, one of which is signed by Churchill’s grandson, Winston Spencer-Churchill, the pistol is from the British Bulldog’s personal collection and goes up for sale at the Bonhams auction house in Knightsbridge, London.

Considered the ‘little brother’ of Webley & Scott’s MkI .455, which was never widely adopted by the military, the .32 Webley & Scott was intended for commercial and sports sales, though Bonhams points out that the .32 was chosen by Scotland Yard for close up protection details in 1911, and that Churchill’s personal bodyguard carried one also.

It is not known if Churchill carried the gun for personal protection, however, it is possible: Churchill survived around 20 known assassination attempts.
