Generally speaking, I don’t like to publicly promote the names of mass killers. My reasoning is simple. That is, I like to believe that Dr. Jordan Peterson is right in his analysis that a lot of these sick individuals are seeking fame, or more precisely, infamy. And those of us in the media should do our best to avoid giving them what they want, even posthumously.
As Peterson said last year:
We have to agree to never publicize the names of school shooters and other publicity-seeking mass murderers. This is not a gun or even a “mental health” issue. It’s an issue of malevolent narcissists weaponizing mass media. Stop publishing their names and the problem will end.

So, I’m not going to mention the name of the individual responsible for the tragic shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, TN this week that left three students and three adults dead.
What I will say on the matter is that the perpetrator’s identity has been confirmed by NBC News and that it is who people on social media were alleging, a 28-year-old transgender activist.
In recent months, rhetoric about carrying out “revenge” & “vengeance” on society for some states restricting the medical transitioning of minors has surged. Through my reporting on #Antifa, I’ve long observed that disproportionate numbers of violent Antifa members are #trans.… pic.twitter.com/CzfVSg26iR

Why does the whole “trans” thing matter?
Well, as journalist Andy Ngo pointed out on Twitter, “The shooting comes amid a surge in far-left death threats in Tennessee over the state banning the medical transitioning of minors” and “adult cabaret (drag) performances in front of children.”
Especially striking when you look at the population stats. No other group, per capita, is committing more terrorism than trans and non-binary. https://t.co/GmGTSwkoMY

NPR: Feeling Trans? You Get a Gun
Though the investigation is ongoing and no clear motive has been established, this has the makings of a politically motivated retaliation.
I know, it is crazy to think that someone could get so razzed up about politics that they would resort to murder. I mean, is that where we’re at now as a country? Your state passes a few laws that you don’t like so you shoot up a school?
Insane, if that’s the case.
What’s also disturbing is that just a few weeks ago this type of violent response was championed by at least one high-profile figure on the Left. Jane Fonda.

While appearing on ABC’s The View, the actress called for the murder of pro-life Christians. Watch the clip below. It doesn’t at all appear as if Fonda’s joking.

Jane: “Well, murder.” pic.twitter.com/DhaIxRASS3
The Covenant School is a private Christian school. The shooter was a former student there, according to police.
It’s possible the shooter targeted this school because he or she wanted to make a statement to those on the Right, those who likely supported the state Legislature’s new laws (that are really designed to protect children).
The motive will eventually come out as the investigation unfolds. But in the meantime, we need to do a gut check as a nation. We need to end gun-free zones. We need to make schools hard targets.
School security is a deterrent. It’s time to prioritize school security and safeguard our children. pic.twitter.com/LuxfnQ7oxc

Moreover, we need to condemn in the strongest possible terms any celebrity, politician, or public figure that glibly calls for murder as a means of resolving political differences. Because you never know who is listening, what their current mental state is, and whether they’ll take you seriously.
Jane Fonda didn’t shoot up that school, don’t get me wrong. But she’s contributing to an increasingly hostile polity where these tragedies are becoming more common.
