Most of you have seen photos or heard someone speak of the Crye Precision Six12. For those of you patiently awaiting your revolving shotgun, I’m sorry to report they aren’t here yet. We had heard, going into the show, that the guns were set to ship. But that’s not true. Years have passed and the gun has more or less stood still. Small changes have been made to the design, and kinks have been worked out, but the design and feature-set have stayed the same. So what’s the holdup?
Straight from the horse’s mouth…. The root of Crye’s problems start with the company’s location. Manhattan. New York City. Crye Precision is in a state and a city that doesn’t really love firearm manufacturers. With special permission from the city, they were able to produce Six12s for military and police testing. Now with the Six12 being proven and widely accepted, Crye has plans to build a new facility outside of the city where production of the Six12 will take place. Where? They won’t say.
Still, we’re told this facility is well on its way to completion and Crye is patiently waiting on their FFL/SOT to be finalized so that they can start production. We have been told that we should see Six12s in full production at the new facility in quarter 3 of 2016. Finally, we have an approximate date to look forward to. So mark your calendars.
The features of the Six12 have mostly stayed the same. The price is said to be right around $2,000 for the stand-alone unrestricted version. Other parts will be available for purchase and, yes, you will be able to get all of the parts to recreate the Salvo 12 SBS (Short Barreled Shotgun) version of the gun that stole the show at last years SHOT show. We at GunsAmerica are impatiently awaiting the release of this shotgun. As more details emerge about it and its timeline for release we will continue to keep you posted.
