Ruger always as a few tricks up their sleeves and at a price that is right. We will be covering many of the other new products later in the week, but decided to start with the new Security 9. Recalling the unwavering durability of the Security 6 revolver, the new Security 9 has a strong name to live up to.
Impressions
The Security 9 is a mid-sized or compact pistol, a perfect first-time buyer pistol. Similar in size to a Glock 19 or M&P9C, the Security 9 features a 15-round flush fit magazine. The gun has a very clean look and features you might not expect. For example, it features front and rear cocking serrations. The sights are steel. Out of the box, I like them.
To round out the new Ruger handguns, also available is the EC9s. EC stands for everyday carry, and Ruger designers meant it. Building on the proven LCP design, the EC9s is a slightly scaled up version for the 9mm round. It is a fantastic option for the CCW market, at a price you are going to like.

Pricing
Why are we talking about both of these handguns in the same release? Simple. The first time I saw these pistols, I placed them together as a set. They’re both priced for a new shooter. You can have a full-sized pistol for training and home defense and a small gun for CCW all for the price of one normal striker-fired pistol.

The Security 9 retails for $379, the EC9s for $299. Knowing Ruger, street price will be a bit leaner than that. It is not out of the question that you will be able to buy both for under $600, and have all the bases covered. This is going to be a hard value proposition to beat.
