The X01 Personal Defense Weapon Platform by Radical Weapons.
One of the cooler things I saw at SHOT Show 2019 was an offering by Radical Firearms. Awhile back when SIG Sauer introduced the P320 series of pistols, they brought something to market that it would take people some time to fully realize. That was the serialized trigger package. Rather than having a serialized frame, slide or receiver, the trigger package itself is the “firearm.” This, in turn, has been capitalized on by Radical Firearms with the introduction of the X01 (Gen2) Personal Defense Weapon Platform.
The X01 is a conversion/chassis utilizing your SIG P320 (minus the grip module).

The X01 is ultimately a chassis for your SIG P320. But unlike other similar products like the RONI Pistol Carbine Conversion, the X01 doesn’t use the pistols existing grip or frame. You open the top of the X01, drop in your SIG P320 trigger package, install your factory SIG slide and barrel, close it up and you’re ready to rock.
While I haven’t had the opportunity to fire the X01 yet, there are some design features I immediately liked. First and foremost the fact that you aren’t using the factory SIG frame. Not that I don’t like the SIG grip module, it is just the stacking of tolerances that I think leads to issues.
The Sig P320 trigger package drops straight into the X01.
By not using the grip module you have a number of advantages. On the one hand you don’t have to deal with tolerances between the grip frame and the chassis. The slide goes directly onto the X01 chassis. Additionally because it doesn’t have to house the grip module, the overall package and design of the X01 is much smaller and more streamlined.
The X01 is offered in 2 different styles. One is made for full size, carry or compact P320 slides while the other is specifically made for compact P320 slides with full size threaded barrels. The latter model allows for the use of pistol suppressors with the chassis.
Depending on your needs, the X01 can accommodate pistol suppressors.
And depending on your needs, the X01 can be used as a “traditional” pistol, or with a folding arm brace or you can attach a stock to it if you want to go down the NFA road. I’m looking forward to putting in some time with one of these in the future and seeing how it does.
