SPD magazines are made in the USA and assembled from “the highest quality materials,” according to the company.
“Polymer parts, including the follower, are made from 30% carbon fiber reinforced polymer, not glass-filled as found in other firearms products,” states the website. “Also, the metal parts are 6061 anodized Swiss machine aluminum, 302 stainless steel, and 17-7 stainless steel.”

My initial take is that they seem like a great range mag. They’ll save your thumbs and you won’t have to worry about bringing along any other contraption to help you reload.
But I’m not sure I’d use them for everyday carry, concealed or otherwise. For me, it’s not so much a reliability issue with the mags (on that note, we’ll need to get some in for testing) as it is a size issue. No getting around the fact that the component at the base of the mag adds size. I like a flush-fitting mag when I carry.
