I owe a great debt to Mr. Hodnett of Accuracy First/Horus Vision. He taught me things about long range that I would have thought impossible.

There is a lot going on here with Horus Vision Reticles and Accuracy First methodology, more than we can address in our SHOT Show round up.

Horus Vision - Top 3 Things Every Sniper Must Have - SHOT Show 2017

If some of the dialogue in the video sounded like Greek, have no fear, Clay has you covered. This year, he plans on doing a series of articles on the ins and outs of long range shooting. Stay tuned.

The biggest news isn’t mentioned in this video, but it is public knowledge now. Ray Dennis Group, owner of Night Force Optics, has purchased Horus Vision. This means Horus reticles should be easier than ever to get in your favorite scopes in the near future.

As the year goes on, part of my job at GunsAmerica will be educating readers on long range shooting. All the madness in that video that may have sounded like gibberish if you aren’t one of the initiated will make a lot more sense.

We will go over scope levels and ballistic computers and how to buy them. We will also cover scope selection, and how to maximize the equipment you have.

As Todd says, “Long range isn’t hard anymore, it is within the reach of any rifleman willing to learn.” The old standard of a 1000-yard shot is child’s play with modern equipment. And I don’t mean magnum calibers.
