After spending a year in jail for several counts of child rape, former “Sons of Guns” star Will Hayden will be losing his “dream team” of lawyers for a public defender.

State District Judge Mike Erwin took Hayden’s three private lawyers off the case Thursday after the trio decided “continued representation was unsupportable.” In their place, the judge appointed Susan Hebert from the East Baton Rouge Parish Public Defender’s Office.

“I’m releasing the dream team,” said Erwin, garnering chuckles from many of the lawyers in the courtroom.

Hayden’s former lawyers Frank Holthaus, Steven Moore, and Franz Borghardt said things just “didn’t pan out,” but the departure appears to be amiable and both parties even shook hands. Holthaus added “there’s a great deal of evidence in this case… on both sides.”

The Red Jacket Firearms founder was indicted December 2014 on three counts of rape involving two females and faces a life sentence.

Four women accused Hayden of sexual misconduct, including a 12-year-old and his daughter, who confessed on the Dr. Phil show that he sexually abused her when she was 12-years-old.
