The MAD System

Burris has taken a big step toward bringing modularity to the rifle shooter with the new MAD System. The MAD System allows you to choose between hunting turrets or target turrets without having to have a second scope or rifle. This is done through their innovative use of turrets and caps that are fully-customizable for different host rifles and to suit user preferences.

Not just another riflescope.

The MAD System lets you swap turret types.

You can “set it and forget it” with the small turrets and caps for hunting in the field or choose to go with larger turrets without caps that let you dial it in at the range for target and match shooting. This new system covers all your needs.

Scopes featuring the MAD System will start at under $600 starting in the first quarter of this year.

Burris Ballistic Services

Burris is launching Burris Ballistic Services that will calculate the trajectory of your guns and provide you with a printed ballistics table based on your rifle-specific data. The best part is you can get all of this for free! For those wishing to take it to the next level, for less than $100 you can get a custom turret made that will plug all of this information into your dials and allow you to select range-specific settings for your rifle.

They will also offer knob conversions for people who like their glass but want different knob styles. They will convert from hunter turrets to target turrets for $80 and vice-versa for $40.

XTR II 1-8x

The latest tactical scope from Burris is the new XTR II 1-8x riflescope. This has a huge 34 mm tube that appears to pull so much light that it could collapse a small star. While 1-4x and 1-6x scopes have become more and more common in the 3-gun world but true 1-8x magnification in an affordable price range has thus far been unheard of.

Although they were not able to give me an exact price point, the price range they indicated, around or under $1,000 will make this a must-have short-to-long-range tactical scope. The XTR II 1-8x riflescope also includes the MAD System, which should make it an instant hit with the 3-gun crowd and with AR shooters everywhere.

Expect the XTR II 1-8x riflescope sometime mid-year.
