Biden-Harris Admin Giving Taxpayer Dollars to States that Adopt Gun Control

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Current Events, This Week

The Biden-Harris administration has cooked up a scheme to use taxpayer dollars (your money!) to incentivize states to pass laws that punish responsible gun owners.

They’re calling it the “Safer States Initiative.”

Basically, they want each state to appoint a gun-control czar to help enact various anti-2A laws. Everything from criminalizing private transfers to banning black rifles to confiscatory red flag laws is on the agenda.

Official Safer States Initiative Blueprint:

  • Establishing a State Office of Gun Violence Prevention;
  • Investing in evidence-informed solutions to prevent and respond to gun violence, including community violence interventions, Crime Gun Intelligence Centers, and implementation of Extreme Risk Protection Orders;
  • Strengthening support for survivors and victims of gun violence;
  • Reinforcing responsible gun ownership, including by requiring safe storage of firearms and reporting of lost and stolen firearms;
  • Strengthening gun background checks, including by enacting universal background checks legislation and removing barriers to completing enhanced background checks; and
  • Holding the gun industry accountable, including by banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and enacting firearm-specific liability laws to ensure that victims of gun violence have their day in court.

GunsAmerica reached out to Mark Oliva, the managing director of public affairs for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), for his insights on this initiative.

“The White House, knowing that their gun control wishlist doesn’t stand a chance in Congress, is looking to outsource their out-of-touch agenda to the states,” Oliva said via email.

“This includes franchising, at taxpayer expense, offices similar to that of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention that are staffed with former gun control lobbyists,” he continued.

But Oliva’s primary concern is the lack of focus on criminal accountability. He suggested, quite rightly, that instead of targeting law-abiding citizens and their constitutional rights, the government should enforce policies that incarcerate criminals.

Oliva also noted the administration’s alignment with the Soros family, which is funding and perpetuating a radical agenda on gun control.

Using taxpayer dollars to fund gun control is wrong. But that doesn’t mean states won’t line up to take the money. The lure of federal funding may prove too tempting for some, even if it means enacting measures that infringe upon the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

You’ve got to admit, it’s a pretty slick move by the President and Vice President. But here’s the deal: it’s on us to make sure this doesn’t fly.

Time to pick up the phone or fire off some emails to your state lawmakers. Let them know exactly what you think about the Safer States Initiative. We can’t just sit back and watch this happen.
