At SHOT Show 2022, Atlas Gunworks debuted its new optic-ready 2011 racegun: the Ares 9mm Pistol. Aiming to ship by March, these pistols will be popping up soon at your local dealer.
Atlas will offer two variants of the Ares, one with a 4.25-inch slide and another with 4.6-inch slide, both in DLC Black. These smooth shooting 2011s are going to be a great carry option as they feature a commander-sized grip in which 120mm magazines sit flush.
Atlas mentioned that the Ares is the same size as their NYX pistol and that these slightly shorter frames print less when concealed. The frame will also be made from aluminum to save weight in this solid and robust platform.
While no flared magwell will be included on the 4.25-inch version to keep its profile down, they can be added if the customer wishes. Atlas also mentioned that custom ports could be added to the slide help mitigate recoil.
Both of these pistols feature the same flat-faced, adjustable trigger, which is excellent. The trigger includes a set screw to fine-tune the amount of reset. One can easily eliminate excess overtravel. To adjust, all one has to do is access the pre-drilled hole in the front of the trigger.
Slide serrations give plenty of friction for racking the glassy-smooth slide, and the grip panels are just amazing. The texturing is perfect, and the overall circumference gives one plenty to hold onto.
With a skeletonized hammer, a red fiber-optic front sight, a serrated anti-glare blacked-out rear sight, and an optic cut, the Ares includes all the modern features that consumers are demanding these day.
According to the representative at SHOT Show, Atlas will probably ship this pistol with 3 magazines and will offer 126mm, 140mm, and 170mm mags as well.
Current orders have a 90-120 day lead time, but Atlas told us that they are really ramping up production while making capital improvements. They are aiming to have 100 percent in-house manufacturing capabilities by the end of 2022 which will hopefully cut lead times down to about a week.
